Darrell Johnson

(NOTE: This is the first in a series of articles "Spotlighting" different members of the Council.)

Things seem to move along rather quickly for Darrell.  In just the past few months he made First Degree, completed Third Degree in April and in June accepted an appointment as Membership Chairman for Council 10243.  But perhaps that's the way it should be for someone who sees himself as always "on the go".  Darrell also began service as a Minister of the Eucharist and as Lector at St. Bernard recently.  Time doesn't seem to be an issue.  "It completed a certain 'roundness' for me.  Being a part of the Knights of Columbus seemed to be the right thing to do.  And it was the right time."

Darrell moves into the position of Membership Chairman just as an ambitious Membership Drive for the Fall begins to take shape.  Personally, he has some goals for his position as well.  "I want to dispel the image of the Knights of Columbus as a 'secret organization of Catholic Gentlemen'.  I'd like to highlight the family aspect."  He also sees one of the Council's greatest assets as the mix of age groups working together.  "It's a good mix of the people in the parish."

He sees the emphasis on family as one of the most attractive elements of the Knights and he personally hopes to be remembered as "a good son, a good husband and a good father."  Darrell and his wife Kathy have two children and have been a part of St. Bernard for about five years now.  He is currently employed as Director of Human Resources at Jack's Pizza in Little Chute.
