Ron Frosch
Though not a member of Council 10243 (yet), Ron was quite instrumental in getting our Council started back in 1989-90. He first got interested in the Knights around 1975 while he and his family were a part of St. Agnes parish. Some friends invited him to come to a Knights of Columbus Open House. After attending, he thought the Knights might just be something he would like to get involved in. Ron joined Fort Howard Council 5382 and has been a member of that Council ever since.
Far from inactive, Ron was involved in activities too numerous to recall. Like so many others, he was involved in the Tootsie Roll campaign several times, and chaired the event for several years. He held every Council office at least once, and served two terms as Grand Knight of his Council. He was appointed District Deputy of District 7 in 1988, comprised of several Councils within the city of Green Bay. When the growth of the Knights suggested that another district was to be created, Ron became the first District Deputy of District 13, now consisting of Council 10243, 10552 at Ss. Peter and Paul, as well as Councils in Luxumberg and Denmark. Ron served as District Deputy until 1992 when he was succeeded by Richard Rebman from Council 10243. Since completing service as District Deputy, Ron has served on the State Charity Committee, which makes recommendations to the State Council as to the disposition of the funds raised in the annual charity raffle. Ron also ran for State Office a few years back, but lost the race for Warden to Duayne Schunk.
It was around 1989 that Ron, as District Deputy and Dave Tlachac, Insurance Representative, began to think seriously about forming a Council with St. Bernard parish as its home. After several meetings with the pastor, the time seemed to be ripe for the formation of a new Council and Ron and Dave got things rolling. At the time, he and Dave had been making calls from the parish roster trying to get enough men interested in the Knights in order to charter a new Council. After an organizational meeting, sufficient numbers were pulled together and volunteers to serve as Officers were secured, with Richard Rebman as the founding Grand Knight. A Charter was granted to Msgr. Borusky Council 10243 in January of 1990 and formally received by the Council in March of that year from State Deputy Cliff Jansen. The excitement of a new Council was tempered by the tragic loss of Ron’s nine month old granddaughter in December of 1989. Ron credits Dave with keeping things going regarding the setting up of the Council while he devoted his time to his family.
He currently works for Paper Converting as a Supervisor, and has been with the company for thirty seven years now. Ron and his wife, Marilyn have been married for thirty eight years and have three daughters, all of whom live in Green Bay. One of his sons-in-law, Kevin Beck, is a member of Council 10243. Ron and Marilyn are also Eucharistic Ministers at St. Bernard and assist in that capacity at St. Vincent Hospital about once a month. In the little spare time he has, Ron likes to dabble in woodworking and helping Marilyn with crafts. He also enjoys bowling, golf and cross-country skiing.
