Stanford Johnson

Morning Mass just wouldn't be the same without Stan and Rosella Johnson.  They have been a part of the community for quite some time now.  Stan became a Charter member of Council 10243 in order to assist the new Council to meet it's quota of thirty members for a Charter.  It was some 48 years ago that Stan first became involved in the Knights, on the invitation of a friend.  He recalls attending some Council meetings of Msgr. Broens Council 2478 in Sturgeon Bay in a room over a garage; later in a Church.  He found himself involved in Fishing Derbys, work crews on Chambers Island, Boy Scout leader, Little League, and a number of other Church activities.  Stan also served as Grand Knight of his Council as well as Holy Name President from 1962-1966.  He also served the people of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay by preparing candidates for First Eucharist and Confirmation for ten years.  It has been a full and busy life, and Stan, now retired, and his wife Rosella celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991.

It is a bit difficult to get to meetings, but Stan hopes to be present once in a while.  He also has two sons in the Knights of Columbus, one in Milwaukee and another in DePere.  His message to the "newer" Knights: "The Knights are good men; a good group of fellows."  Certainly it takes one to know one.
