Terry Misfeldt

Any listing of Terry's involvement in the life of the community is a list that reads like a telephone book.  While he now works as Marketing and Development Coordinator for the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, he finds time to coach girls' basketball or help out with children's' athletics; to serve as a lector at St. Bernard Church and occasionally as a minister of hospitality; volunteer with the American Red Cross as well as belong to Kiwanis and the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.  He will soon be leaving the Board of the Jaycees of Wisconsin Foundation.

His involvement in the Knights of Columbus began in 1978 in his home town of Thorp, Wisconsin when he joined Queen of Peace Council 1083.  The next few years saw minimal involvement while he lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Following a few years in Escanaba, Michigan and Danville, Illinois, the family moved back home to Wisconsin and became involved with St. Bernard Parish in 1990.  He transferred to Council 10243 shortly after the Charter was granted, Terry became one of the first Trustees of the young Council and chaired the Council's initial attempts to set up a First Degree team.  He's now just over half way through a term as Deputy Grand Knight and is preparing to assume the office of Grand Knight in July of 1994.

Terry is one of the Council's Fourth Degree men and feels strongly that the key to the Knights is the spirit of camaraderie that men of strong Christian faith can develop.  He also hopes to see greater involvement in the Fourth Degree by the men of the Council.  As Grand Knight, he hopes to expand contacts with other Councils on the District, Diocesan and State levels.  He'd like to see more men involved in the life of the Council, and especially hopes to get new members involved as soon as possible.  He believes large membership means that the Council must do what it can to get brother Knights active and involved, whether it is one hour a month or one hour a night; whether it is helping flip burgers at the Knights' Grill or chairing the Christmas poster contest--all activities Terry has done.  "My goals for our Star Council are to continue the successful involvement of our members, to become an organization respected for the impact we can have in spreading the Catholic faith in an era of moral decay, to be financially solvent and stay that way, and to have fun as a Council built on pride and family values."

Terry and his wife, Kristine, have three children--Genevieve, Gabrielle and Geoffrey.  When he's not busy "playing with trains or being a chauffeur", Terry likes to read, take pictures, hunt and write.  He and Kris, who works as a surgical technician at St. Vincent Hospital, enjoy collecting art, taking in community festivals and visiting relatives.
