Sean Wright

Those who work in membership in the Knights or in any organization would be thrilled to know that Sean became a part of Council 10243 in a way which seems to defy the usual process.  Most of the time, people who are contacted about membership have to be pursued by people in membership in order to get them acclimated to the Council and involved in its activities.  Sean became a part of the Knights at the invitation of his roommate several years ago when he lived in Iowa and worked for a finance company.  Upon coming to Green Bay, Sean actively sought out a Council of the Knights to become involved in with the kind of assertiveness that is usually employed by a membership committee in seeking out new recruits.  It was around 1992 when Sean recalls making First Degree with several other friends in Iowa, and the enjoyable experiences he had with his first Council gave him the determination to find a Council in his new home.

Sean is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and came to Green Bay in 1994 in a move which was job-related for his then-fiancée, Cami, whom he married about a year and a half ago.  Sean made the point that they met in church in Iowa. Cami attended UW-Madison and is now a familiar face to many in the area as she is Cami Rapson, co-Anchor of the 10:00 PM News on WBAY.  (Sean wanted to be sure that the plug got into this article.)  In Iowa and after coming to this area, Sean worked for American General Finance before taking a job at Associated Bank.  His current job title is “Retail Banking Representative” and he spends the better part of his day meeting with almost all new customers regarding loans, new accounts and handling problems as they come up.  This keeps him chained to a desk or a telephone for most of the day, and perhaps persuades him to be involved in a number of sports in his free time.  He enjoys racquetball and basketball, and in addition to refereeing football and basketball, he likes to participate in or at least watch all sorts of sports.  He and his wife are also getting adjusted to a new house in the Town of Scott.  There’s also the “pitter-patter of little feet” around the house, thanks to a German Shepherd named Buck.

Sean and Cami are two of just a handful of the Council 10243 family who are not a part of St. Bernard Parish.  They were married at Holy Cross Church in Bay Settlement and remain a part of that parish.  He sees the potential for considerable development of the Council if more attention is directed toward other area parishes and the community at large, agreeing with the assessment of Fr. Al Lis, Randy Barrett and others that there is a potential for growth in membership outside St. Bernard.  Sean is interested in Youth activities, and has noticed the emphasis of Council 10243 in that regard.  His first Council was quite active and engaged in a number of activities such as Pancake/Porkie breakfasts and other fund-raising and social activities.  He also enjoys the social aspect of meetings, looking back with fondness on memories of his Council in Iowa.  He still is in touch with some members of that Council, and has traveled back to take part in bowling tournaments with them.  His dedication to the Knights, as displayed by his actively seeking out a Council to become involved in, is a reminder of how important is the fraternal aspect of our Order.
