MISSION STATEMENT OF ST. BERNARD PARISH DAY SCHOOL

We are committed to the teaching mission of Jesus, challenging each child to grow SPIRITUALLY, ACADEMICALLY, CREATIVELY,  EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY,  and SOCIALLY.

This mission is to develop Christians who will make a positive impact on the world in which they live.

St. Bernard Parish Day School (grades K-8) exists for the student. The faculty, staff and children share Christian values through prayer, religious instruction, academic pursuits and through personal witness in living.

A Christian community is fostered through affirmation and respect of one another. Involvement of parents, and other community personnel in school endeavors is sought, as well as a consciousness of social needs of the parish and civic community.

EDUCATION

PHILOSOPHY OF ST. BERNARD RELIGION EDUCATION PROGRAM

"What we have seen and heard we proclaim in turn to you so that you share life with us." John 1:3

We at St. Bernard’s participate in the Christian formation of the children of the parish. We strive to promote the growth of faith by sharing the Good News, by witnessing to gospel living and by providing an experience of a sharing and supportive faith community. Thus, we set the following values to develop in our students:

  • An awareness of God in our lives, A familiarity with prayer and a spirit of friendship with Jesus.
  • A deepening of faith and fuller participation in the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.
  • A love of God’s Word through the use of Scripture.
  • The essential knowledge of their faith, i.e. content and doctrine.
  • The formation of conscience and Christian values that will foster Christian living.
  • The concept of Christian community and the Christian dimension of spreading Jesus’ love   through Christian service.
